Fellowship Time- Let the Writing Begin!

A quick list of this season’s fine art fellowship competitions. (USA)

Just wanted to update for everyone that I’m gonna to be slowing down with posting on here due to the STACK of fellowship and residency applications on my desk, which have been staring me down for the past few months. So what this basically means is that I’ll be re-posting any events/cool projects I hear about but not much else.

As many of you know most artist fellowships, scholarships and any other cash out there for fine artists, are usually due at the end of January or February.

The time of the William H Johnson Prize has passed, with the Clifford Owens as the 2012 Johnson Prize Winner and Steven Locke and Nicole Miller as Finalists. I’ll be throwing my name into that competition for the next 10 years, lol.

The Rutsch Art Award through the Pelham Art Center is a $5000 grant for painters. The deadline isnt until Feb 1st, 2013 so be sure to check it out.

If you’re a Detroit resident (Like Me) there’s the Kresge Art Fellowship, which this season is for Visual Arts and Literary Arts. Provides a $25,000 to 9 people in art and 9 in lit who have shown a competitive commitment to Arts in Detroit. Deadline is February 1st, 2013.

Also, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago’s Marjorie Susman Curatorial Fellowship which is intended to offer an exceptional graduate-level candidate the opportunity to gain professional curatorial experience in a major museum setting +$25,000 stipend.

These are just a few coming up soon, there are plenty more out there- be sure to keep your ear to the ground near you because there’s always a patron of the arts nearby interested in supporting Your potential.
