Mythologies Exhibition a Success at Sullivan Galleries, Chicago

Mythologies Exhibition a Success at Sullivan Galleries Chicago.

Last week the exhibition opened at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago’s Sullivan Galleries, along with a few other shows including one titled New Work. This well curated event featured student work across mediums such as photography, collage, film, painting and books.

Here- I’ve posted some images of the opening night, featuring 2 artists book works I installed for the show. The first is a diary titled FAT BLACK GIRL and interactive book viewers could flip through and a second work titled “For You and You Alone” A collaged journal featuring hand drawn accordion books and miniature porcelain objects.

I like working small, so it was fun to coax visitors into taking their eyes away from larger/brighter artworks and taking the time to spend some intimate time with these smaller books-delicately turning through them and patiently reading the inscriptions. Wonderful!

I had a great time mingling on campus and checking out some killer work-for more on this show, check my DEC 7th post below.
